We partied like it was Christmas.
All it took was a little warm weather and some good food to whip our sun-deprived souls back into shape. Welcome back, spring! My aunt and uncle hosted the festivities this year, and if you know my family, we’re always up for a good party (holiday or not). We sing too. Did I ever tell you that? We’re like the modern day Von Trapp family. Incidentally, our Easter egg hunt is accompanied by the banjo… Rhythm and chaos, it’s tradition.
For the food, everyone is in charge of bringing a side dish. Our menu included a fabulous antipasti platter, mini homemade pizzas, stuffed artichokes, deviled eggs (with bacon!!) and that was just to start. For dinner, my aunt served marinated pork tenderloins grilled to perfection by my cousin’s husband, Mike. One day I will do a post on this. She even made my roasted butternut squash. I brought a ridiculously wild cake complete with every primary color you could possibly imagine. My little Jake had a birthday-he’s 3! Oh boy, did we feast.
On a side note- I apologize for all of the full-sized photos you are about to see. I had plans to make a gallery, but the website I use tactfully informed me that my browser was too ‘vintage’ and therefore no longer compatible. Yes, those were their exact words. Vintage. There’s probably another way to do this (someone please email me- I’m the worst!) but considering I was trying to attempt photo galleries for dummies at 9 PM with a mental capacity that could barely handle watching The Voice, I decided to just let it be. Go big or go home, right? So, with that said, prepare yourself a nice cup of tea or stiff drink perhaps and get ready for some scenes from our Eater celebration.
Cue the tunes…

We had such a delightful time, I just had to share. The weather was just perfect that day and we basked ourselves in delicious food, song and sun. I’m so happy that Spring has finally arrived! How was your Easter? And don’t let my little men fool you- they’re monsters! xoxo

Beautiful post. Absolutely no reason to apologize for the bombardment of photographs, each and every one deserved to be shown in full-size! You’re a brilliant photojournalistic-style photographer Em. I am terrible at taking candid photos of people, so I admire those who have ‘the skills’, so to speak! Glad that you guys had a beautifully warm, safe and delicious Easter together (I always spend my Easter morning singing too… but normally at Church. My husband and the bulk of my family absolutely deplore communal singing but I would’ve been right at home with your bunch!). Anyway, belated happy Easter to you and the family Emilie. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous moments with us. Ah, can’t believe it’s back to work tomorrow! xx

You are too sweet- thank you Laura! And, for the record, you take the most beautiful pictures ever so I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I bet your candid shots are stellar and you don’t even know it (I’ll bet you a plane ticket, ok?). You are more than welcome to sing with us anytime. You’d fit right it ;)

That roasted butternut squash looks beautiful! I love that you have a family member that knows how to play the banjo!!
Emilie says
So random, right? My dad is the one who plays the banjo. In fact, he can pretty much play any instrument and is usually the one who gets us all going. The neighbors must think we’re nuts. But it’s a lot of fun!! Thanks for stopping by Pam :)

Wonderful! An Easter Egg hunt accompanied by a banjo! And a Thomas cake! Looks like you had the best time ever! :)

I know, we’re a wild bunch. Easter = banjo, and Thanksgiving & Christmas = piano! And if we’e lucky, there might be some kind of bongo drum involved (after all, Johan is from South Africa!)- we have them in both adult and kid sizes;) I hope you had a wonderful Easter too Celia! xx
