Welcome to my Christmas kitchen!
December is officially my favorite time of year. There’s something so magical about the holiday season; the food, the lights, the festivities- it makes you feel like a kid again. Now that I have little ones of my own, I get to re-live the magic through them. Here’s a peek at what’s going on in my kitchen this month.
The photo above is a gingerbread kit made from real gingerbread (as opposed to the overpriced graham cracker stuff). It was a little short on candy, but overall I was impressed with the quality and price. Only $7.99!
Next up…
… Christmas Ale by Anchor Brewing Company. For those of you that don’t know, I’m a total sucker for packaging. After eyeing that label (it’s textured too!) I just had to have this beer. It’s brewed in San Francisco and the flavor is dark & rich with spicy notes throughout.
In my kitchen…
… the ambitious makings of an advent calendar. Key word, ambitious. All that stenciling is enough to drive you mad! I almost gave up at 19. Although this project took me forever, it was worth the time and effort. These little bags will be filled with chocolate coins and hung in front of the fireplace for all to see. If you’re interested, you can find the supplies at any good craft store and the muslin bags (3×5) online. Oh, and good luck.
And finally, in my Christmas kitchen…
… I have some sugared cranberries. These sparkly little baubles are tart & sweet, and look great on holiday desserts! You can find the recipe here.
Well, that’s about it for my Christmas kitchen this month. As always, big thanks to Celia for hosting. If you’d like to show what’s in your kitchen, head on over to fig jam & lime cordial to sign up.
*In case you were wondering- the gingerbread kit and Christmas Ale can be purchased from Trader Joe’s and the cupcake cases at TJ Maxx. I’m not affiliated with these stores nor do I get paid to promote their products. I just like to share what I love!
Happy Holidays!

Oh that’s a bummer! You can always make your own with graham crackers (or tennis biscuits) and a little frosting. Yeah, I agree- IMK is great! Thanks for stopping by :)

Your gingerbread house kit looks amazing – so much detail at such a great price! I hope you’ll show us the finished product! And I love the little cases the cranberries have been served in! Sounds like December really is the festive season at your place, Emilie, and it’s so nice of you to share it with us! :)
Emilie says
Thanks Celia. The gingerbread house was a lot of fun to construct and I’ll definitely share a pic (if it can survive my little ones!!!) The sugar crash afterwards…not so much fun. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday season and all is well :)

Beautiful Christmas edition Emilie, just lovely! How fabulous are frozen cranberries – I have only just discovered them! They were divine, slow cooked with a smoked ham and lashings of port, very festive! Have a very happy holiday season and may your Christmas sparkle with moments of love and laughter ; )

The sugared cranberries look sooooooooo festive! And as usual, your photography is beautiful. Love the idea of the advent calendar. How exciting for the kids!
Emilie says
Thanks Ruby! The advent calendar was quite the project for a non-crafty person like me. But the kids love it so it makes it all worth it in the end. The chocolate coins on the inside aren’t bad either ;)

Ooh a gingerbread house kit. Don’t forget to post a photo when you have completed your gingerbread house :o)
Emilie says
I will! My little one actually started eating the roof off the other day, so it might look a little mangled :)

I do like those cranberries and the wrappers. Emilie!
And that is a great gingerbread house kit! I usually make my own- but this is very tempting- I may have to pick one up to do with my grandchildren on Christmas day!
Thanks for the Christmas tour of your kitchen!
Emilie says
Ooo, do get one Heidi! They’re a lot of fun (as you know…) and you’re grandkids I’m sure will love them. I would suggest having a little extra candy on hand as this kit didn’t include much.
